The cannon pays homage to the brave men who fought at The Battle of Gonzales. While waving the “Come And Take It” flag, these brave Texians released the first shots of what would become the Texas Revolutionary War. Said to be the “Lexington and Concord” of Texas, all that followed can be traced back to these brave few who stood down the initial thrust of the Mexican Army.
